Statue!. . .

I’m sat on a beach and it’s peaceful. . .The suns out and the mountains in the distant look pictorial.

But there’s these metal statues stuck in the sand all over the beach, and to be quite honest, their a bit eerie!. . .

There’s loads of them and they are all staring out to sea, it’s as if they are waiting for something!, something that they have, by the looks of things, been waiting for for ages.

You see they have rusted and are covered in green slime deposited by the numerous high tides.

It’s eerie because as I look out to sea I can’t see anything out there that warrants such a gaze, and such a long stance!.

Most bizarre!. . .

Then again you could say these statues are a bit like ‘us’. . .

‘You speak for yourself!’ I hear you say, ‘I’m not some rusty old statue covered in slime!’. . .

And your quite right!. . .

Individual, fascinating and unique you are, but I’m sure like myself you have, or maybe are having a ‘statue’ moment!. . .

Let me explain. . .

We all want a life full of meaning full of adventure, we all want to know where we’re going and I’m sure we all want to be successful. . .

Yet at times we find ourselves welded to the spot!. . .unable to move forward desperate to escape the tides that keep washing over us, depositing its unwanted garbage on us.

We desperately want to change our footing to escape the heat of the day, yet find ourselves burned by the heat of life or drenched in the rain of despair!. . .

And no matter how long we gaze out to sea, what we hope will appear on the horizon. . .never appears. . .

Rusted and stuck in our old ways we give in, we begin to believe that this is our lot!. . .that this is our destiny. . .

——————-

The sky’s turned a bit grey, adding even more creepiness to the forlorn looking statues. . .I think it might rain!. . .

The statutes haven’t moved since I last looked, I sense that they have settled for a life of slime,
I’m guessing that they have given up all hope of ever changing, & now believe that they must just accept all that life throws at them. . .

The good news is that we don’t have to!. . .

No matter how rusty, our lives may be or may become, we ‘can’ alter our footing, we can have a new horizon . . .

Here’s how. . .

Remove your feet from where they have been welded for so long, take your eyes of the old horizon and go grab a Christian, a pastor or your local vicar . . .& ask them how they overcome, how they avoid becoming statues . . .and what they can see on their horizon. . .

Then, go and live life to the max. . .
